Class Objective:

Photo 1 is a beginning photography class, utilizing the use of Digital Single Reflex Cameras or professional mirrorless digital cameras.  There is no lab work involved with this class, though intermediate computer skills are a must.  The class is designed to give the student an understanding of basic control of camera operations, proper exposure of images, and good compositional skills.  The objective is to learn how to effectively use your camera and to start thinking photographically.  The student will learn through lectures, photographic projects, critiques, and visual aids.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:

      1. Demonstrate the fundamental use of cameras, lenses and exposure.
      2. Demonstrate lighting, composition, shutter speed, aperture and focus.
      3. Evaluate both their own and classmates' work in terms of technical aspects, composition and lighting.

Required Textbook:

A Short Course in Digital Photography, by London & Stone,  Current Edition. Reading assignments will help with lecture material and assignments.
